Veterinary care truly is a collaborative effort. We partner with you and your family veterinarian, and our teams often work together to care for a Patient. That’s what happen with Ziggy, a very special cat who came to us by way of Metairie Small Animal Hospital. Starting with emergency care with Dr. Missy Jackson, then Internal Medicine with Dr. Brigitte McAtee, and then on to Oncology with Dr. Mia Livaccari. Along the way, Ziggy’s mom says that the team was patient, professional, compassionate, and communicated medical details in a way that was easily understood. Ziggy fought through multiple rounds of cancer treatments and always brought smiles to our team members’ faces with his costumes and the blanket tunnels he built during his visits. He showed signs of improvement until a new, unexpected mass made an unwelcome appearance in January. After a challenging eight-month journey, his mom made the difficult decision to say goodbye with some of our team members supporting her through his end-of-life care. His mom says, “MedVet professionals always made me feel as if Ziggy and I were the most important Patients in their care. These animal protectors and caretakers are and will forever be my heroes.”
