MedVet, the only veterinarian-led and owned network of emergency and specialty hospitals for pets, marks its 30th anniversary today.

“This anniversary is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our compassionate, experienced team and relentless commitment to delivering the MedVet Experience,” commented President & CEO Eric Schertel, DVM, PHD, Diplomate, ACVS. “We could not have accomplished this without the trust and loyalty of our Referral Partners and clients,” he said.

In 1988, Dr. William (Bill) DeHoff established MedVet to address the growing need for specialty veterinary services in the central Ohio community.

In the years that followed, MedVet expanded its services to include: Anesthesia & Pain Management, Avian & Exotics, Cardiology, Critical Care, Dentistry & Oral Surgery, Dermatology, Emergency Medicine, Integrative Medicine, Internal Medicine, Interventional Radiology, Medical Oncology, Neurology, Ophthalmology, Radiation Oncology, Radiology, Rehabilitation, Surgery, and Teleradiology.

MedVet also continued to grow in its size and reach, gaining hospitals in Alabama (Mobile); Idaho (WestVet Boise); Illinois (Chicago); Indiana (Indianapolis); Kentucky (Lexington); Louisiana (Mandeville and New Orleans); Michigan (Commerce); Ohio (Akron, Cincinnati, Cleveland Northeast, Cleveland West, Dayton, Hilliard, Mahoning Valley, and Toledo); Texas (Dallas, Grapevine, and Richardson); and Utah (WestVet Northern Utah).

“Today, our unyielding commitment to delivering exceptional care is still attracting the most talented and compassionate specialists, emergency doctors, clinicians, technicians, and support service professionals,” says Chief Medical Officer Linda Lehmkuhl, DVM, MS, Diplomate, ACVIM (Cardiology). “It is through their great work that we not only deliver exceptional care, but we also are working to preserve the integrity of the profession.”

Over the course of the next twelve months, the MedVet will commemorate 30 years of delivering the MedVet Experience through a variety of activities at all locations and in the communities served, celebrating the relentless commitment and dedication to enhancing the lives of pets, their loving families, and the veterinary community.
