Teodora (Teddy) Abegaz, DVM, is residency trained in Anesthesia & Analgesia. She has been a part of the MedVet Chicago team since 2022.
Dr. Abegaz attended Blackburn College in Carlinville, IL, where she obtained a Bachler of Arts degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. She then earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in Champaign-Urbana, IL. After earning a veterinary degree, Dr. Abegaz completed a rotating small animal medicine and surgery internship at MedVet Chicago, followed by an anesthesia and analgesia residency at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in Champaign-Urbana, IL.
Dr. Abegaz has special interests in the anesthetic management of minimally invasive cardiac procedures, pain management, local regional techniques, and veterinary technician anesthesia education. Her favorite part of practicing veterinary medicine is the collaboration among colleagues to provide the best possible care for all pets.
When not taking care of her patients, Dr. Abegaz enjoys traveling with her husband, hiking or walking by the lake, trying new restaurants in the city, spending time with her nieces and nephew, partaking in the latest Netflix binge, or tending to her indoor plant collection.
