Jean Loonam, DVM is an Emergency Medicine Veterinarian at MedVet Northern Virginia where she has been part of the team since 2004.  She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Virginia Tech (Blacksburg, VA), followed by her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine.  Dr. Loonam completed a yearlong small animal internship at the Regional Veterinary Referral Center in Springfield, VA.

Subsequently, she worked at a general practice in Middleburg, Virginia before she was asked to do a year-long surgical fellowship at the University of Tennessee.  After her surgical fellowship, she joined the emergency and critical care department of a referral center outside of Jacksonville, Florida, before returning back to the Virginia area and opening the Emergency Medicine department at the Veterinary Referral Center of Northern Virginia, now MedVet Northern Virginia.
