Heidi Zurawka, DVM, is an Emergency Medicine Veterinarian at MedVet New Orleans and MedVet Mandeville where she has been a part of the team since 2023.
Dr. Zurawka earned her Bachelor of Arts in Pre-Veterinary Medicine with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Findlay. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Zurawka then completed a rotating internship in Medicine and Surgery at Florida Veterinary Specialists as well as an internship in Wildlife Rehabilitation Medicine and Surgery at Progressive Animal Welfare Society (PAWS). She completed her residency in Zoological Medicine and Surgery with the Wildlife Conservation Society at the Bronx Zoo.
Dr. Heidi Zurawka enjoys treating zoo, wildlife, and aquatic animal species. She has a special interest in the areas of pediatrics, surgery, wound care, neurological disorders, and inpatient care of complex critical cases involving head trauma, sepsis, and multisystem disease processes. Her favorite part of veterinary medicine is being a voice for pets who cannot advocate for themselves and building relationships with families. Dr. Zurawka also enjoys the collaboration with exceptional team members in the pursuit of a diagnosis and providing the most advanced care for pets.
Outside of work, Dr. Zurawka enjoys being a band mom and a pet mom, spending time outdoors, listening to music, riding horses, playing tennis, SCUBA diving, and traveling.
