Carrie E. Symmonds, DVM is an Emergency Medicine Veterinarian who has been part of the MedVet Akron medical team since 2016. Dr. Symmonds attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology. Following the completion of her undergraduate studies, Dr. Symmonds attended veterinary school at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree before going on to complete a rotating internship at the Veterinary Specialty Center of Tuscon in Tuscon, Arizona.
In addition to her clinical endeavors, Dr. Symmonds is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Veterinary Medical Association, Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society, and Ohio Veterinary Medical Association. Although interested in all aspects of veterinary medicine, Dr. Symmonds is particularly passionate about critical care, pain management and emergency surgery. Her favorite part of being a veterinarian is counseling and supporting families through emergent cases and treating their pets with compassion. When not caring for patients, Dr. Symmonds enjoys photography and spending time hiking, baking and doing arts and crafts with her daughter and her lab mix, Jeni.
