Astrid Bigio Marcello, DVM, Diplomate, ACVIM (Oncology) is a board-certified Veterinary Medical Oncologist at MedVet New Orleans and MedVet Mandeville where she has been part of the medical team since 2014. Dr. Marcello attended Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine where she earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Following her graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Marcello completed a yearlong internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine, a yearlong internship in small animal oncology at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine and a three-year residency in small animal oncology at Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine.

Since becoming a board-certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Dr. Marcello’s cancer research has been published in the Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine and Veterinary Comparative Oncology. She is an active advocate of continuing education for veterinary professionals and has lectured on a variety of oncology topics. Prior to veterinary school, she worked as a veterinary assistant in Puerto Rico.
