Alan G. Ralph, DVM, Diplomate, ACVECC, is a Board-certified Specialist in Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care at MedVet New Orleans, where he has been part of the team since 2013. He is also the Emergency Medicine Specialty Leader for all MedVet locations.
Dr. Ralph attended the University of Georgia where he earned both a Bachelor of Science degree in 2004 and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2008. In veterinary school, he received numerous awards including the Merck Veterinary Student Award, the American College of Veterinary Surgeons Award, and the Certificate of Merit for Proficiency in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery.
Following his graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Ralph completed a yearlong internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine, a yearlong internship in emergency and critical care at University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, and a three-year residency in small animal emergency and critical care at Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine.
Since becoming a board-certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care, Dr. Ralph has become a leader and well-known figure in the emergency and critical care veterinary community. Dr. Ralph has co-authored book chapters on a variety of critical care topics. His work has been published in multiple peer-reviewed journals, including Small Animal Critical Care Medicine, Topics in Companion Animal Medicine, Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Veterinary Surgery, American Journal of Veterinary Research and the Journal of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care.
Dr. Ralph is an active advocate of continuing education for veterinary professionals and has lectured locally and nationally on a variety of l emergency and critical care topics . Although Dr. Ralph is experienced in all aspects of small animal emergency and critical care, he has particular interest in coagulation, cardiopulmonary support, and continuous renal replacement therapy (dialysis).
