Jorge Vilá, DVM, MS, Diplomate, ACVIM (Cardiology) is a board-certified Veterinary Cardiologist at MedVet New Orleans and MedVet Mandeville where he has been part of the medical team since 2015. Dr. Vilá attended Iowa State University where he completed his pre-veterinary course work and Louisiana State University College of Veterinary Medicine where he earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Following his graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Vilá completed a yearlong internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, followed by a three-year residency in small animal cardiology and Masters of Science degree at Louisiana State University College of Veterinary Medicine. In 2014 Dr. Vilá was awarded the Zoetis Veterinary Specialty Resident Externship Grant.
Since becoming a board-certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Cardiology), Dr. Vilá has authored several papers on various veterinary cardiology topics and has lectured to veterinarians and veterinary students on a variety of cardiology topics.
Although he is experienced in all aspects of cardiology, Dr. Vila’ has particular interests in the treatment of arrhythmias and pulmonary hypertension. When not treating patients, Dr. Vilá enjoys travelling and watching LSU football.
