Erin K. Malone, DVM, Diplomate, ACVIM (Oncology), is a Veterinary Medical Oncologist at MedVet Columbus where she has been part of the oncology team since 2011. Dr. Malone attended the State University of New York at Geneseo where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine where she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Following her graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Malone completed a yearlong internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Long Island Veterinary Specialists and both a yearlong internship in anesthesia and three-year residency in small animal oncology at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Malone received the E. Gregory MacEwen Memorial Award in 2009 for outstanding basic science research project in oncology by the Veterinary Cancer Society.

Since becoming a board-certified Diplomate American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Oncology), Dr. Malone has presented at annual meetings for the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and the Veterinary Cancer Society as well as local veterinary meetings on topics including Leukemia, Transitional Cell Carcinoma and Lung Tumors. Dr. Malone’s research has been published in Veterinary and Comparative Oncology, British Journal of Nutrition, and in the Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine.

Dr. Malone maintains an interest in all aspects of oncology and has particular interests in the diagnosis and cytology of hematopoietic tumors. When not treating patients, Dr. Malone enjoys yoga, snow-boarding, cross-country skiing, hiking, bicycling and reading.

The VCS-ACVP OPWG is a joint venture of the Veterinary Cancer Society and the American College of Veterinary Pathologists. The overall mission of the Oncology Pathology Working Group is to foster and promote an integrated working relationship between veterinary oncologists and pathologists to facilitate and ensure the highest standard of pathology support and reporting for the advancement of veterinary clinical oncology and cancer research.
