Emily C. Salzer, DVM, is an Emergency Medicine Veterinarian at MedVet Asheville, where she has been a part of the team since 2021.
Dr. Salzer attended Indiana University in Bloomington, IN where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Animal Behavior. She then earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in Ames, IA. Following earning her veterinary degree, Dr. Salzer completed a rotating medicine and surgery internship at WestVet Boise. Prior to joining MedVet Asheville, she spent three years in veterinary practice in North Carolina.
Dr. Salzer is a co-author of Small Animal Fracture Repair: A Case-Based Approach, a book that provides veterinary colleagues with an easily accessible and visual guide to successful methods of repairing common fractures in dogs and cats. She has a special interest in internal medicine and advanced imaging. Her favorite part of veterinary medicine is being able to diagnose and stabilize a critical patient, producing a successful outcome. Dr. Salzer also enjoys being part of a dedicated and talented team.
When away from the hospital, Dr. Salzer enjoys music. She played the flute for nearly 20 years and was a member of the marching band in both high school and undergraduate school. She also likes to watch and play sports and spend time with family.
