We are very pleased to announce the addition of Capital Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center (CVREC) to our family of MedVet Emergency and Specialty Referral Medical Centers. The Hilliard practice, which for twelve years has provided specialty and 24-hour emergency care for clients on the west side of Columbus, is now called MedVet Hilliard.
Dr. Barbara Lightner, a board certified surgeon and Dr.Hilary Matthews, a board certified internist – Capital’s two founding partners – have a long history with MedVet’s founders and with many of our specialty and emergency team members. Over the years, Drs. Lightner and Matthews and their team have maintained a strong reputation for patient care, client service and referral partnership. Capital has become a trusted local resource for many on the west side of Columbus and we are thrilled to have them as part of our team.
With the addition of the Capital team, MedVet has taken the exciting step of incorporating the best care available for avian and exotic pets. Capital has become very well known for its avian and exotic animal practice thanks to the expertise of Dr. Barbara Oglesbee, DABVP-Avian Practice. Dr. Oglesbee is one of the best known of the approximately 100 board certified specialists in Avian Medicine and Surgery. She is the author of the internationally referenced Five-Minute Consult, the best regarded resource for small mammal treatment guidance. With Dr. Oglesbee and her associate Dr. Melissa Ferry now part of our team, MedVet offers the same uncompromising care for birds, rabbits, ferrets, reptiles and other unique species as we have historically offered for cats and dogs. We are tremendously pleased to be integrating such a well-regarded specialty into our organization.
Service offerings at MedVet Hilliard will remain the same for the immediate future and include Surgery, Internal Medicine, Avian/Exotics and 24-hour Emergency Medicine.
We are very pleased to now offer local care to our west Columbus clients and to be expanding MedVet’s response to an even broader pet owning population.
